Flamingo Magazine
I worked with Flamingo Magazine as an editorial intern for my required senior internship. Flamingo is Florida's only statewide lifestyle magazine. I chose to work with this magazine to gain experience in a more casual journalism workforce. I learned a lot about the back end of publishing as well as the research that goes into creating the magazine. As an intern, I researched a variety of topics for the print issue, did some writing that went on to be featured in the issue, and created social media content. Visit Flamingo's site here.
Online Features
I wrote a few pieces for Flamingo that were featured as online content on the website. These pieces included research, photo outreach, and writing the piece.
My first piece was a Valentine's Day gift guide that would guide Flamingo readers to the best locally-made gifts to give for the holiday. I collected the list of items and did brief write-ups to describe them. Read the full article here.

Social Media Content
Another experience that I got through Flamingo was creating social media content for their Instagram. I came up with several ideas for Instagram Reels, and after I got approval, I shot, edited, and found music for a few short videos. Visit Flamingo's Instagram here.
This reel was intended to persuade non-subscribers to subscribe to the magazine. A co-worker brought in her dog for the day and I thought that he would make a cute subject for a reel. This video has received 1,876 views so far. View the whole video here.
This "flip-through" reel was intended to show readers a few highlights of the previous issue in anticipation for the upcoming one. I added a catchy song and filmed some clips flipping through the magazine. This video has received 1,093 views so far. View the whole video here.
The last reel posted on their Instagram is also the shortest one. I created a quick video to show the last four issues and to ask our readers which was their favorite. This video has received 2,748 views so far. View the whole video here.
